Lips

Lip Blush is a semi permanent tattoo procedure that lasts between 12-36 month’s depending on your skin type, chosen colour and environmental factors. With Lip Blush cosmetic procedure we can create the most natural, barely noticeable lip colour stain, or if you’re an every day lipstick girl we can also deliver a more defined look depending on your preference! During the consultation we work together with you choosing the best colour, and shape for your lips.

Preparing for your appointment …

To ensure the best experience and results for your lip tattoo treatment, please follow the following guidelines:

Lip blush tattooing is an artful technique that delicately enhances your natural lip colour, providing a subtle and realistic tint to accentuate your features. It's essential to understand that while lip blush tattooing delivers beautiful, long-lasting results, it isn't a substitute for lipstick but rather an enhancement of your inherent beauty. The colour outcome may vary between individuals, influenced by factors such as skin tone and type. Embrace the uniqueness of your natural radiance with lip blush tattooing— a personalised touch for timeless elegance.

Scheduling Considerations: Aim to schedule your appointment away from the beginning of your menstrual cycle or a day or two before, as heightened sensitivity during this time may be experienced (although the procedure is not particularly painful).

Punctuality Matters: Try to arrive on time, as this treatment cannot be rushed. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we may need to reschedule due to time constraints.

Physical Activity and Sweat: Avoid vigorous workouts and sweating before your appointment. We want you to be cool, calm, and collected without elevated blood pressure.

Appointment Companions: Please refrain from bringing children or additional people to your appointment. You are welcome to FaceTime friends or family during the consultation for additional opinions on your lip shape.

Supplements and Medications: Avoid fish oil and Q10 supplements for 2 weeks before. Refrain from painkillers and blood thinners (nurofen/aspirin).

Alcohol and Caffeine: No alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment. Avoid coffee or caffeinated drinks on the day, as they can cause bleeding.

Post-Filler Consideration: Wait 14 days after botox or facial filler in the lip area. Also, ensure no recent sunburn or windburn on the face in the past 2 weeks, as pigment may not implant.

Skin Treatments and Hair Preparation: No invasive skin treatments (peels, microdermabrasion, laser) 2-3 weeks before; ensure smooth and healed skin. Wash your hair beforehand, as it may be challenging to wash for 2-3 days afterward.

Lip Hydration: Apply moisturizing lip balm or Vaseline to your lips regularly for one week prior to ensure they are well-hydrated and smooth.

Exfoliation and Lip Condition: Use a gentle scrub or honey to exfoliate lips 2 days before the treatment. Lips should not be cracked or dry on the day of the treatment.

Medical Conditions and Lip Care: Seek treatment for angular cheilitis/cuts at the sides of the lips before your tattoo booking. For very dry lips, apply Bepanthen cream overnight the night before.

Smoking Cessation: Cease smoking on the day of treatment and for 24 hours afterward.

Cold Sore Prevention: If prone to cold sores, obtain cold sore prevention/anti-viral tablets from your health professional and start taking them a few days prior to the treatment, continuing as directed afterward. Cosmetic tattooing can trigger cold sore flare-ups, potentially causing pigment loss or patchiness, so taking precautions is crucial.

Note: If you have had a cold sore in the past 14 days, please reschedule. Avoid cosmetic injections/filler in the lip area 2 weeks before or after the treatment. Refrain from consuming spicy, acidic, or very salty food for 24 hours prior. If you have a favorite lipstick color, bring it along for us to match. Your cooperation ensures a safe and successful lip tattoo experience.

Following these guidelines will not only contribute to the success of your cosmetic lip blush but will also ensure the longevity and vibrancy of your stunning new lips. We look forward to enhancing your natural beauty!

After your appointment …

Swelling: Expect your lips to feel swollen and quite dry post-treatment. Apply ointment several times a day for a up to 7 days. If dryness occurs during the day, generously apply the ointment.

Ointment Application: Tap the ointment onto the skin; do not rub it in. Always use a clean Q-tip, not your fingers, to apply the ointment to the lip area to reduce the risk of infection.

Dryness/Flakiness: After your lips are no longer tender, they may experience flakiness, which is a normal part of the healing process. Refrain from picking or scratching, as this can impact pigment absorption.

Avoid:

  • Steer clear of the sun and tanning beds before and after the procedure. Use sunblock once your lips have fully healed.

  • Do not use Glycolic, Hydroxy, or fruit acid products on your lips.

  • Avoid direct water pressure, pools, and bodies of water until fully healed.

  • Resume wearing lipstick only after your lips have healed.

  • During the healing process, avoid oily, salty, acidic foods, and alcohol.

Common Side Effects: Redness, swelling, tenderness, and dryness are typical post-treatment side effects that will subside shortly. The healing stages for lips include appearing too dark, then too light, and finally settling into the desired color, which takes about a month. During this period, refrain from any friction on the lip area.

Touch-Ups: Lips, being muscles, may require a touch-up session to finalize the procedure. Results can vary, with some clients achieving a robust lip color, while others may have a more subtle outcome. Factors like sun damage, scar tissue, and implants can affect results. Schedule lip touch-ups 6 weeks after your initial session to enhance color retention.
