Preparing for your appointment …
Cosmetic tattooing and microblading are semi-permanent procedures. Ensuring your safety and optimising the outcome are our priorities. We take careful steps to guarantee that the procedure is not only safe for you but also that your skin is thoroughly prepared, aiming for the best possible result on the day.
Before your scheduled cosmetic eyebrow tattoo session, it's crucial to follow these guidelines for a smooth and successful experience.
The treatment involves skin penetration, akin to a conventional tattoo, with minimal pain. Healing typically extends up to 4 weeks, following strict infection control protocols. All machine and needle components are entirely disposable.
Pigments formulated exclusively for cosmetic tattooing are introduced into the skin.
Anesthetics and numbing cream, which we recommend purchasing from a compounding pharmacy, are utilized during the procedure. These formulations include lignocaine, prilocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine in minimal quantities.
Photo references: If you have photos of brows you like, have them ready to show us – or you can even come with your brows drawn the way you like, to show us your preferred shape.
Skin Thinners, Botox, Fillers: Please refrain from using any skin thinners, including Vitamin A, Glycolic Acids, or engaging in exfoliation on the brow area for a minimum of two weeks before your appointment. If you've had cosmetic procedures such as botox or fillers, ensure they are done at least two weeks prior or two weeks after your scheduled tattoo appointment.
Waxing, Tinting, Shaping: If you opt for waxing or brow shaping, schedule these services at least two days before your tattoo appointment. For those who tint their brows, do so at least one week prior to the procedure. Feel free to come with your brows drawn if you have a specific shape in mind; otherwise, we can collaborate to determine the perfect shape during your appointment.
Physical Activity and Sweat: Avoid vigorous workouts and sweating before your appointment. We want you to be cool, calm, and collected without elevated blood pressure.
Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine, and Blood Thinners: Refrain from consuming alcohol, caffeine, or taking blood thinners such as aspirin or ibuprofen 48 hours before your procedure. This precaution minimizes excess bleeding, ensuring optimal results.
Consider Menstrual Cycle Sensitivity: Be aware of potential hypersensitivity around or during your menstrual cycle, as this can influence your tolerance during the procedure.
Skin Conditions: We are unable to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, or moles in or around the brow area. Please inform us of any skin conditions during your consultation.
Following these guidelines will not only contribute to the success of your cosmetic eyebrow tattoo but will also ensure the longevity and vibrancy of your stunning new brows. We look forward to enhancing your natural beauty!
Follow the provided instructions diligently for the entire 10-day healing period to ensure optimal healing and colour retention. Results vary for each individual, and while we cannot guarantee specific outcomes, it's normal for treated areas to appear darker and more saturated up to 7 days post-procedure.
Healing Process: Refrain from picking or rubbing the treated area. 30 minutes after your appointment, gently wipe away any lymph fluid from the brows with a cotton round, repeating this process four times on the day of the procedure over the course of two to three hours.
Brow Care Routine: Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil, applying in circular motions with fingertips, to wash your brows morning and night for 7-10 days or until flaking stops. Ensure thorough drying with a clean towel, and avoid letting water collect or sit on the brow area. Apply the provided ointment sparingly (pea-sized) to each brow with clean fingertips, unless advised otherwise for oily skin types, in which case, allow for a dry healing process.
Please Avoid: During the healing period, refrain from using makeup, Retin-A, and Glycolic Acids on pigmented areas. Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, swimming pools, oceans, hot tubs, saunas, and steamy showers. Shower with your back to the shower head to prevent water or hair products from coming into contact with the pigmented area. Minimise extreme perspiration to prevent infection, and use a good sunscreen daily once fully healed.
What to Expect: Brow tattoos won't heal perfectly after the first session, as this is a two-step process. Be patient during the ten-day healing process, as your brows will change day-to-day. Initial darkness and definition may last up to two weeks, followed by a flaking period around days 4-5. Resist picking, as it can lead to patchiness and scarring. Full healing takes up to four weeks, with the colour continuing to evolve until around the six-week mark. Comparatively, these sections may appear extremely light next to the non-shedded segments. Don’t worry, this pigment will eventually soften and settle into the appropriate shade when shedding is complete and the pigment resurfaces. In total, it should take about 3-4 weeks for your new eyebrow tattoo to shed completely and the pigment to resurface to its true color.
Touch-Up Procedures: Book your touch-up appointments responsibly, considering high demand. Additional charges may apply if the tattoo fades significantly. Touch-ups are typically done within the first three months. Achieving desired results may require multiple sessions.
Itchiness may occur during the healing process, lasting up to two months. Excessive bleeding may necessitate additional touch-ups, as it can push pigment out during the healing process.
